The information provided is for help with Commtest Instruments products:

Disclaimer: Commtest does not officially support this legacy Windows operating system.
- Insert the BAFO CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM drive.
- Look for the USB symbol on the back of your computer and also on the small end of the BAFO cable. Plug this end of the BAFO cable into your computer's USB port.

- The 'Add New Hardware Wizard' will appear once the cable is plugged in. The Wizard will guide you through a series of steps to install the BAFO driver program from the software CD. Click Next to continue.

- Accept the default option 'Search for the best driver for your device. (Recommended)' then click Next.

- Select the 4th option 'Specify a location' then click Browse to manually locate the driver file.

- When the Browse for Folder window opens click the
icon beside your CD-ROM drive to expand it (this is drive E: in the picture below but your CD-ROM drive may use a different letter).

- Expand the 'Driver' folder then scroll down to the 'Bf-8xx' folder and expand this.

- Expand the 'Windows' folder - do not expand either of the folders beneath this. The OK button will now become active. Click OK to finish specifying the BAFO driver location.

- The Wizard will now re-appear with the correct location of the BAFO driver filled in. Click Next.

- Windows will now look in your specified location for the BAFO driver. When the following window appears click Next to install the software on your hard drive.

- Once the driver installation is complete click Finish to close the Wizard.

- Connect the free end of the BAFO cable to your instrument then connect your instrument to the PC using the supplied RS2323 cable.
- You should now start the software and let the program automatically detect which port is being used to communicate with the instrument. See Specifying the COM Port for further instructions.
