Uninstalling the dongle driver

  • Leave the dongle connected to your PC (if you have already removed the dongle plug it in again now).
  • From the Windows Start menu select Settings>Control Panel.

Win98_start_settings_controlpanel

This opens the Windows Control Panel. Near the bottom of the list you will see an item called 'System'.

Win98_control_panel

  • Double-click 'System' to open the System Properties window.

Win98_system_properties

  • Click the 'Device Manager' tab to open this page.

Win98_device_manager

  • The dongle driver will be highlighted with a yellow question mark. (If you cannot see this because you have removed the dongle, plug the dongle back in then click Refresh.)
  • Select the HASP dongle driver then click Remove (the HASP4 USB number may differ from that shown here).
  • You will be prompted to confirm the removal - click OK.
  • Close all other windows.

This completes the dongle driver uninstallation. Now you need to reinstall the dongle driver to successfully run the Ascent program.
