Creating your first Database

The information provided is for help with Commtest Instruments products:

Ascent® software

The factory default database contains all the necessary information to begin setting up your machines.

Click the Open button on the toolbar.

The following window will appear.

Click the Create button in this new window. The Create or Overwrite Database dialog box will open.

Accept the default name and location and click Save.
You will now be prompted to install the factory default database. Click Yes to install this.

After a short time, a dialog box will appear asking you to plug in your vb instrument so that the Ascent software can communicate with it and find out its abilities.

Connect the vb instrument to the computer, turn the instrument on then click OK. Follow the on-screen instructions.
When prompted to enter a description of your instrument click Yes.
Fill in the description field on the form that appears, leave the other fields as they are and click OK to finish.
