Specifying Sensor Settings

The information provided is for help with Commtest Instruments products:

  • vb instrument

We recommend you define the settling time and sensitivity of your accelerometers within the vb instrument (or the Ascent software). You can then select different sensors when taking measurements.

  • From the Main Menu press [1] Measure then press [0] Manual Setup.

The Set Parameters Menu is where you can set/change individual parameters for taking measurements.

  • From the Set Parameters Menu press [9] to display the Sensor Setup Menu. The image below shows the values for the default sensor 'Undefined sens-a'.

You can overwrite any of these values including the name of the default sensor.

  • To change a value press the key that corresponds to the item you wish to change e.g. press [1] to open a menu that lets you edit the name of the sensor.
  • To enter text or numbers press the number/character keys on the instrument - the on-screen prompts will help guide you (full instructions are in the Instrument Reference Guide). As with a mobile phone, available character options for each key are displayed with subsequent key presses (e.g. the first press of the '3' key displays '3', the second press displays 'D', the next press displays 'E' etc). The cursor will advance automatically after a short pause so that the next character can be entered.
  • When you have finished entering the details of your sensor return to the Main Menu by pressing MENU repeatedly.
